About

people who stutter create

What does it mean to ‘create time’? Stuttering can open up space—and time—to find reflection, possibility and potential in repetitions, prolongations and pauses, making room for deep listening and connection.

we believe that stuttering has the power to open up space for deep listening and connection. By embracing the possibilities inherent in repetition, prolongation, and pauses, we reshape social reality through the acts of description and expression.

people who stutter create (pwsc) is a creative collective of artists, writers and speech and language therapists who stutter. their first project together was a billboard for whitney museum’s 2024 biennial. What was a site-specific artwork has now been reshaped into two more versions (mississauga and malmo), honouring the languages of the respective locations.

This website is an extension of the artworks. It makes them more digitally accessible worldwide and includes stuttering voices.

please get in touch with us individually if you’d like to collaborate.
